SOCIAL JUSTICE

My practice aims to create a space where personal growth intertwines with a commitment to social justice. As a therapist, I strive to cultivate an inclusive and equitable experience for every client to ensure your unique background is celebrated.

I actively engage in ongoing education and advocacy to stay informed about the intersections of mental health and social justice which caters to individual needs while considering the broader societal context.

After graduate school I began working at a large group private practice agency named Therapy Austin. While there, I successfully advocated for and led a cultural transformation. This involved a comprehensive overhaul of our interview process and incorporating specific questions about candidates' awareness of internal biases into the selection for therapist roles. Furthermore, I led a dedicated team that crafted an accountability statement designed to foster a more inclusive therapeutic environment. Our team also developed a standardized template for therapists to address matters of identity and culture during client intake sessions, alongside producing instructional videos role-playing these types of conversations. We enlisted the expertise of professionals versed in anti-racism and anti-oppression to fundamentally reshape our therapist training curriculum and integrate principles of social justice at its core. Our efforts cultivated our most diverse therapist community ever, attracting our most diverse client base ever - funny how that works.
